FAQ:
What are halogen derivatives?
Answer:
Derivatives of aliphatic and aromatic hydrocarbons. They are organic compounds containing halogen atoms formed either by the replacement of hydrogen by the halogen (in case of saturated compounds and arenes) or by the addition (in case of unsaturated compounds and arenes). Arenes are aromatic hydrocarbons such as benzene (C6H6).
